Savory Truth

The seasoning in one’s life is a delicate balance. For it is said that a person is “well seasoned” when he is mature in years and has lived a long life–seemingly to have gained much wisdom. But I tell you wisdom, that which comes from above, is not gained through years of living, but from time spent within close fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom is to be sought after–it is more valuable than gold.

Choice nuggets come from spending time at My feet and learning the heart of the Master from My Word. I AM revealed in My Word, but you truly will not recognize the different, subtle flavors or aspects of My person without first savoring them on your tongue. “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good.” (Ps. 34:8)

Speak forth My Word, whether through prayers, reading My Word aloud or sharing with a friend. The declaration will be sweet to the taste as honey. The subtle notes return to the ears, quickening your spirit within, as deep calls to deep. It is food for your soul–this, My friend, is true seasoning. The delicate balance of wisdom and life…

The one anchors

The other propels forward

Yet they do not contradict, but are in perfect balance, as is the Sword of the Spirit–rightly dividing soul and spirit with the Word of Truth.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever; the ordinances of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.” Psalm 19:7-10

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24

“O taste and see that the Lord is good! Happy is the man who takes refuge in him!” Psalms 34:8

“But wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or insincerity. And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:17-18

“Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.” Psalms 51:6

“My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.” Psalms 49:3

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace, above all taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17
