Humility is not an act that one ‘chooses’. For to choose to be humble is a prideful move. Rather, humility is the fruit of submission. Submission to Me; submission to others. It is your heartfelt desire to serve–place others before you.
Your desire for the Kingdom’s best is the desire of your heart.
This is rare and special, for so many are torn, and live a life of mixed values; indecisive, they lack allegiance to anything.
The humble heart is a pure heart–a life lived with purpose.
“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Mark 10:15
This one has determined to leave all and follow Me. Those who do, have this goal in mind and are unshakable. Their every decision is weighed against the goal. Will it balance; will this take me closer or further from my goal–from my purpose?
“And every one who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. but many that are first will be last, and the last first.” Matthew 19:29-30
They are determined, focused–an athlete among their peers, for they are in training every day. If you have laid your life down for My Kingdom, you have set your heart on the highest goal that can be achieved; an honorable decision, not easily done, for it all begins with submission.
Submitting your pride to ask Me inside–admitting your sin, you’ve begun . . .
“The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.” Proverbs 15:33
Now, continue to find, that submission inside, each day of your life that you’ve won!
“And Jesus called them to him and said to them, ‘You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:42-45
“And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, provided that you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.” Colossians 1:21-23
“–Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is in vain that the scripture says, ‘He yearns jealously over the spirit which he has made to dwell in us’? But he gives more grace; therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:4-7
“Take your share of suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier on service gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to satisfy the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.” II Timothy 2:3-5
“As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
“Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8
“The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.” Proverbs 22:4
